Thank You For Visiting

Life Management

Most people want to be happy.

The definition of happiness can have many faces. Maybe people think that possessions, fame, or glory are happiness. We often think we have to earn it.

Our current generations have evolved mainly from previous generations that had to struggle and faced hardship living off the land or the sea.

Their formula for success was hard work. Their motto was often hard work creates luck.

Then, just as we evolved from an agrarian to an industrial economy and moved to the cities, our formula changed to get an education and a good job.

These are good concepts for survival, but not necessarily for happiness. We interwove  success at survival with the attainment of happiness. They are not necessarily the same.

You can decide to be happy before you have achieved accepted standards of success. I along with many others have spent their lives creating the allusion of happiness by accumulating what is accepted as the standards of success. We think that possessions of these standards mean we are happy. But possessions generally lead to the need for the next possession.

I don’t have to list the litany of social issues that clearly prove our pursuit of happiness has led us to worship false idols. I have traveled that road and led my children down that road. For now, I am at least trying to redirect my youngest daughter in college to find different values for happiness as she also looks for a career.

Real happiness is easy if we start in the right place. It begins with values. I have learned that that love, gratitude, and self expression are far more rewarding long term than Ferraris. We get stuck in roles that fulfill our obligations. Then we look for relief and justification for our stress. We rationalize that fine things are what we deserve and what will make the bad thoughts go away.

We have too much stress in our lives. We have pursued many of the wrong idols. We have as a society created anxiety, depression, alcoholism, abuses, consumerism, obesity and disease. There is too much negativity and pessimism.

We need to start differently. We need a different perspective of Reality and different expectations of what delivers Happiness. Positive thoughts and optimism can crowd out negative thoughts and leave us with a life of happiness and joy. So the question becomes, how do we build the foundation?

What are the values and goals we should be building into our lives to make life more rewarding?

How do we find our own voice?

How do we find passion?

How do we become inspired?

Regardless of our goals whether they be material or spiritual, discovering who we are and pushing our limits can take us to self realization.

I will work with you in building a foundation to reach your potential;  the realizations that develop along the path lead to happiness and self fulfillment.

There is no need to stop your current pursuits unless you see the value. Sometimes we need a change in perspective. Sometimes we need a change in direction. It is difficult to make abrupt changes, but we adapt easily to moderate adjustments.

You have certainly appraised the results you have attained so far pursing the path that has made the most sense to you. That path has led to personal, mental, physical, material and spiritual results.

Are you happy?

If you would like to explore different values that could create some enlightenment and different results, we should talk.

I offer a Free half hour exploration session by telephone. This is followed by consulting or guidance sessions as you see fit.
