Relationship Marketing can use the internet, email, and social media publishing to create followers or Suspects who become Prospects by opting in to receive further communications.
The technology of New Media such as websites, email and email responders, blogs, articles, P/R, YouTube, Face Book, Twitter, Mashable, and Flikr to name a few are community oriented and build community. It is often consumer to consumer and not just advertiser to consumer.
Mixing New Media with Traditional Business is often a tricky combination as Seth Godin points out in “Meatball Sundae”. Take two good concepts and put them together and you can get an un tasty result. Most new businesses organize to take advantage of New Media but not all traditional businesses have made the decision to reorganize for the purpose.
